I realized that I made many of the rookie mistakes when I published my first book. As I have met Sheryl (and now Angie and Chas) I have kind of (emphasis on the kind of) learned how to do things, and guess what? I didn’t do many of them the first time around. I failed to gather a effective critique group, I didn’t have my book professionally edited, etc. I could go on, and maybe some of you would find it helpful, but that would be a post all by itself. If any of you out there want to ask me any questions, feel free to leave a comment or reach out to me. I’ll be more than happy to help you if I can.
Well, I hope I have corrected these issues. It seems as though I have been revising that first book forever now. I am proud to announce that I have completed the revisions. I have signed, stamped, and sealed it, and am moving on to the next project. So if you don’t mind, I’d like to share the revised Lionel and the Golden Rule with you all. Here’s the blurb:
Lionel is sick of his brother picking on him and of his mother yelling at him. One day, while cleaning the closet his mother has been after him about, he discovers not only boxes and old clothes, but a lucky charm with more magic than he bargained for. After an unusual encounter with his brother, Lionel knows things are about to change for the better.
Together, Lionel and his lucky charm are able to stand up to his big brother as well as make Carrie—the cutest girl in his class—notice him. While learning the quirks of his magical charm, Lionel ends up at a casino in Las Vegas, escapes an evil dog, becoming a hero to the other kids, and finds himself playing in the Great Series with his favorite professional baseball team. Will Lionel master the trickster, over-the-top magic, or will it mess things up beyond repair?
The new cover (thanks to my illustrator Pat Sauber and cover designer LLPix Photograpy).
Thanks everyone for stopping by and letting me talk about me for a bit. I hope you weren’t too terribly bored. If you want to read about Lionel, click here to go to Amazon where you can read the “look inside” feature, or you can read the beginning on Wattpad.
The trailer (again thanks to LLPix Photography):
Hey, I hope college goes well for you. What will you be taking classes on?
Hi Christy,
Thanks for the well wishes. Right now I am taking a personal communication & development and a consumer finance class. I hope all is well with you. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hey, Paul, I’ve wondered the same thing and keep forgetting to ask. I’m glad you took the time to write this post. BTW, I “biggified” your trailer so it’s easier for old eyes like mine to see. Looks good!
Hi Sheryl,
Thanks for adjusting the size. I couldn’t remember what the largest dimensions that fit were. I hope you’re having fun. Thanks for the picture of Fanny, look a lot like JoJo.
Paul
Congratulations on returning to college and also on your revised book. I wish you the best of luck with both. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a nice weekend.
Hi Beverly,

Paul, this is the second time this week I hear about people returning to school to fulfill an academic ambition. Very inspiring! Have fun with your college course and congrats on the revised novel!

Hi Paul! I’m visiting from over Booknificent Thursday Book Hop! Awesome that you are doing well and returning to college! You sound like you have a full plate. Best wishes to you! I can’t wait to read another of Lionel’s adventures! =)
Hi Crystal!
It’s great to see you! I hope all is well with you. I have been busy; returning to work, college, writing, and life in general. Sorry I have been absent; how is your writing coming along? I hope you and your family are doing well!
Paul
Good luck with college. What degree are you working toward?
Everyone makes rookie mistakes when they start off doing something new for the first time. I think it’s very big of you to be able to talk about them.
Hi Cynthia,
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope all is well with you. I am enrolled in the Bachelor of General Studies program at Eastern Illinois University. I live too far away from any campus’ to actually physically go there, so this is an on-line program that fits perfectly into my life right now. Thanks for your words of encouragement.

Awesome for you that you are returning to school. I know it is hard to go back as an adult- but I know you will be happy when you are all done. Best of luck with your classes. Also- fabulous about your book. I have it on my kindle and hope to start it soon! 🙂
