As for staying up late, I made myself do that because I was making a costume for our church Halloween party earlier. And then I went to the party, of course. People loved my costume and said I should win, except this year they only judged the chili. Hubby had to get my food for me because I couldn’t without dipping my costume in the pots.
I always make people guess what I am because it’s always something punny or just plain strange like Mother Treesa or a Facebook Page. I won’t tell you the correct answer, but a few people guessed I was a Sumo Wrestler. What? Sure, I was so wide I would’ve knocked people out of the food line if I tried to stand in it, but I looked nothing like a Sumo Wrestler. I made my costume from furniture I found at the curb the evening before trash pickup. I was scavenging for another project, and the parts I would have thrown away just spoke to me. Actually they screamed, “Costume!” So I spent hours cleaning and adjusting until I became a walking menace to narrow doorways.
I attracted kids. One curly haired child was so fascinated he followed me around until Trunk or Treat time. Then he sat on my lap to help give out candy. The costume sort of invites sitting on it. I wish hubby would have showed up to take a picture but he was off elsewhere, talking, I suppose. Oh well, I’ll put my costume on again for Halloween and maybe he’ll take a picture then. But it won’t be the same without the boy, around 5 or 6. He and I talked between handing out candy. He was so charming I wanted to take him home. When his dad reprimanded him I said I was enjoying the company. The boy stayed on my well-padded lap until people packed up and we all went home.
Now, I’m not trying to be meme, but it’s time for business. I’m supposed to answer these serious questions, and you may be seriously sorry you read the answers. But if I memed you, you’re obligated to answer the same questions and meme three other people. So grit your teeth and meme on.
If you could go back in time and relive one moment, what would it be?
My whole honeymoon going up through Bear Lake to Yellowstone National Park. We had a great time. “Great time” is not what I wrote the first time, but then I realized too many people would misread my meaning. Let’s just say we had as much fun outdoors as in until a bear came into camp. When we saw the size of the bear trap the rangers brought in, we grinned and beared it. The next night we stayed in a cabin.
If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?
Going on an amusement park ride while pregnant that ended up in an accident that made me have to stay in bed. I got osteoporosis and bronchitis and then broke my ribs coughing the day before my youngest son was born. Labor with broken ribs hurt like a swear word. I feel younger now, thanks.
The osteoporosis is why I read while walking and try to avoid sitting around. Grrr, it’s not working because I can’t stand in one place long even if I put my laptop on our kitchen bar. I want a powerful netbook and some sort of harness that’ll let me walk and type at the same time. Or walk and talk to the computer instead. I did buy Dragon’s Naturally Speaking software. I just haven’t installed or trained it yet because I haven’t figured out a good way to walk with the laptop yet.
What movie/TV character do you most resemble in personality?
I grew up as the Invisible Girl. Yeah, I know it should be Invisible Man, but I don’t watch TV enough to know if there’s a shy girl who doesn’t turn into Carrie. Now I’m more often Queen Borg. Resistance is Futile. She scares Invisible Girl. I try to be more like Mother Theresa but the closest I ever got was the Mother Treesa costume. At least I won that contest. Actually, my Borg costume won too.
If you could push one person off a cliff and get away with it, who would you choose?
The Invisible Girl. Who would ever know that part of me was gone? But really, it would be so much easier if the Borg would just assimilate her once and for all.
Name one habit you want to change in yourself.
Staying up too late. My eyes know it’s past time for bed. My brain says “Finish your work first!” My stomach says, “I’m hungry. Eat some chocolate!” The stomach wins. So much for the Borg brain assimilating everything else. My stomach wants to assimilate fat and turn me into a couch potato. If you must know, the eyes closed not long after the chocolate infusion. It’s another day and my behind already hurts from blog searching for possible memees. Which make me a memer. Take that, spell checker.
Why do you blog? (Answer in one sentence)
I want to attract an audience for my book even if the Invisible Girl would rather hide under a rock.
Name at least 3 people to send this to:
1. Joanna Marple at Miss Marple’s Musings because I feel bad that it took me so long to find her blog when I’m in her PB through YA campaign group, and I really loved her third campaign entry, here. I demand to read more. Okay I can’t demand, being as I’m too far away to assimilate her into the collective. So, please? With cream and sugar?
2. L. A. Speedwing of A Blog about Writing, Arts and other Randomness for the same reason. First, she has some great downloadable story news for iPhone owners. Second, who would’ve guessed I would find two campaign entries in a row that have both moved on to the second round of judging? Find the Three Tacise Challenge here.
3. Elizabeth Stilborn of Elizabethannewrites, you guessed it, for the same reason. I was innocently reading along, enjoying her pictures of SCBWI conference and a Sound of Music Singalong and boom, I ran smack into her third campaign entry. This one made me smile at the the clever wording and laugh at the ending. Then I went to post my comment and guess what? Another entry into the second round of judging. Read hers here.
This is awesome! Almost unbelievably awesome that I found three second round entries in a row.
Lest I forget, please read mine too. It’s number 20 and you can read it here. I hope your brain’s spellchecker doesn’t go as nuts reading it as my computer’s did.
When you’re finished, if you haven’t already entered my 100 follower book giveaway, you have a few days left before it ends on Octover 31. My chocolate follower contest with monthly drawings is always open to anyone who hasn’t already won. You just have to leave a new comment and spread the word on any social media and let me know your point total. Both contests are open to international entries via the gift card option.
Whew. This post took so long to write it gives new memeing to the word. What word? You decide.
