Headache Character Interview & Giveaway

Paul R. Hewlett here. Welcome everyone to the Fall into Fantasy Hop hosted by I am a Reader Not a Writer and co-hosted by The Write Path. Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming Spooktacular Hop October 24-31. We’re going to have a little sit down with Peter Fischer and get to know him a little better. What’s that you say, you don’t know Peter Fischer? Well, sit back, relax and enjoy as he and I sit at down at the new Papa’s Sweet Shop. But first we’re going to tell you about award-winning author Crystal Marcos’s book.

Sorry to interrupt here, but I wanted all of you to know that today and tomorrow Headache will be FREE on Amazon! Then, just in time for Halloween, Crystal is offering special 99 cent pricing through October 23rd! Don’t miss out! Now, back to the interview.

The magical adventure continues in the spine-tingling fantasy-adventure, HEADACHE: The Hair-Raising Sequel to BELLYACHE! Crystal Marcos delivers another whimsically entertaining escapade for ages seven and up. Readers will delight in more sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, non-stop action adventures of Peter and his best friend, Lina.

When Peter Fisher sets out for school one morning, he has no idea that trouble is stirring in his hometown. With the unexpected arrival of his new Candonite friends from Maple Town, Peter and Lina have extra help saving their beloved town and loved ones from the clutches of the one villain they had hoped they would never see again. Humorous and thought provoking, this unforgettably entertaining story teaches a valuable lesson about standing up and facing one’s fears. (From Goodreads)

Well that tells us about Headache and a bit about Peter, but I really wanted to know more about Peter. So I asked him to meet me at the new Papa’s Sweet Shop for a little sit down. It is a pleasant afternoon and Peter and I sit across from each other at a table for two. The sun is warm through the window and several crumpled up candy wrappers and napkins sit between us on the table.

Hi Peter. How have things been since your trip to Maple Town?

Great! Thanks. Things have been pretty exciting around here with the new renovations in town.
(Interviewers note: For more about the renovations you’ll have to read Headache).

What have you been up to? What are your favorite activities?

I’ve been helping out more at Papa’s Sweet Shop and making new friends. Lina helps out sometimes too when she isn’t at soccer practice. My new favorite activity is swimming. I didn’t discover how fast I was until my friends and I decided to have a race. When I reached the end of the pool, I turned around and no one was near me. My mom says I take after Nana. She was really fast in her younger days.

Speaking of what you’ve been up to, it looks like you had a snack before I got here (nods at the candy wrappers and napkins). You’re not thinking about trying to return to Maple Town are you?

I just had my usual three pieces of candy, including a peanut butter cup, my favorite. I also tried Papa’s newest creation you really have to try it before you go, sour and chocolate make a great combo. Nah, I’m not thinking of returning to Maple Town. It would be great if I could, but I would never return by Bellyache again.

It sounds like you learned your lesson well Peter. Say, what was it like in Goltan’s castle?

It was definitely the scariest place I have ever been. It was freezing and it smelled worse than any horrible smell you could imagine! Just thinking about it gives me the creeps. Can we talk about something else, please?

Sure, I’m sorry. Do you miss your Candonite friends, Joe and Angela?

You bet, I miss everyone I met in Maple Town. Well, not everyone, but most everyone. I wish I could talk to Poke again. I sure miss Joe and Angela too.

That concludes our interview. Actually Peter and I talked for a bit more, but I don’t want to spoil Headache for anyone, so that is it for today. Oh, and by the way, Peter was right, sour and chocolate DO make a great combo!
