Has it been a month since I posted? It’s IWSG time already and I haven’t even caught my breath. I haven’t finished checking whether various browser anti-malware add-ons have updated their lists to reflect that my blog is now hack free vs. free to hack. But while the getting is good, I’d better thank Alex J. Cavanaugh for hosting this monthly event.
Co-hosts for May:
Since last time I posted, I’ve spent hundreds of hours cleaning malware and fixing links via Google Webmaster tools. I wasn’t even close to finishing when I went to church and my phone flashed 2 calls from siblings within minutes of the opening song. That couldn’t mean anything good. It didn’t. My mom had fallen and broken her lower leg. The bones came through her skin, she bled out, and the EMTs did CPR. At the hospital, the ER doc called my sister into the family counseling room. He was covered in blood up to his knees and told her they couldn’t do surgery because my mom wasn’t stable. So a day and a half of packing and getting prescriptions later, off I went to Seattle. Between hospital visits and editing jobs, I didn’t do a single thing with taxes in two weeks. I didn’t even finish the editing jobs. Mom’s wounds weren’t healing, so more surgeries were scheduled. Before I came home, she had her leg amputated above the knee.
I’m home, but it didn’t even take me 2 weeks to lose all the weight I gained in Seattle because of farm chores. When does writing fit in? It doesn’t. The IRS wants us to submit our taxes. I keep trying, but every day a new emergency pops up. Not all major, but even the minor ones add up to sleepless nights and days where I’m ready for a nap before noon. I still can’t sleep more than 4 or 5 hours at night…. but I’m falling asleep now in spite of my shingles acting up. So goodnight. I hope your problems are minor and your successes are major.
