Ho, ho, ho, everyone, and welcome to the Christmas in July Hop hosted by I Am A Reader Not A Writer & Laurie Here. Paul here, and I’d like to give a special thanks to Kathy and Laurie for hosting and doing such a great job for readers and writers everywhere. Today we’re talking about Christmas! When you’re done here make sure to check out the linky at the bottom of the page and click on the links to “hop” on over to other great blogs for some more Christmas and family friendly giveaways.
I’m featuring my very own Christmas book: Lionel’s Christmas Adventure: Lionel Learns the True Meaning of Christmas. I’ll be giving away an ebook to one lucky winner. This is book two in the Lionel’s Grand Adventure series and this time around Lionel has a new best friend but loses the true Christmas spirit. Lucky for him his magical charm hasn’t and with it’s help he might just get it back.

Here’s the blurb:
Have you ever wanted something you couldn’t have? Meet Lionel, a lovable bully-magnet who desperately wants a new sled and will do anything to get it. This fun Christmas book follows Lionel from Larrystown to the North Pole. His magical Three-Toed-Potbellied Walbaun foot is back and is as unpredictable as ever. Whether Lionel’s sledding, ice skating, or in a life-sized gingerbread village, it takes him on some grand adventures. Filled with great Christmas imagery, this book is perfect for young readers and family story time. This holiday, be careful what you wish for; you never know what might happen!
I had a lot of fun writing this book and hope you have as much fun reading it. If you want to learn more about me or the Lionel’s Grand Adventure series head on over to PaulRHewett.com. The gift I most wanted for Christmas was a Ballerina Barbie back when I was around 10 years old.
Hi Jayne,
That sounds like a great gift. It’s tough to go wrong with Barbie. Did you get the Ballerina Barbie?

I really wanted a bicycle when I was five.
Hi Vonnie,
Did you get a bike? I never asked for a bike: I guess that because I grew up in the Midwest and I wouldn’t have been able to ride it in a foot of snow anyway. Thanks for stopping and sharing.
Paul
I love Christmas in July and I love Lionel …the perfect combination! I think I most wanted a bicycle when I was six. I got a refurbished one…painted bright red.
Hi Jane,
Great to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words. I love Christmas in July too. I responded to another comment that I never asked for a bike, but that’s because I grew up in the Midwest and there was always too much snow. Thanks for stopping by & sharing.

An American Girl doll – didn’t care which one.
Hi Sarah,
That’s a good gift. I hope you got it. I took my daughter to the American Girl doll store in Chicago when she was young. We took her doll to lunch and the whole nine yards. She loved it (me, not so much). Thanks for stopping and sharing.

As a kid, a cat!
I’d like to know if you ever got a cat for Christmas. That would be a great gift, but it seems like one kids want and parents might not. I hope you got one! Thanks for stopping by & sharing.

A Barbie jeep! I didn’t have any sisters so I’m not familiar with the jeep, but it sounds great. Thanks for stopping by & sharing.

The love of my life and fortunately I found him :). When I was younger I used to think I would end up alone, no idea why ;).
This might be the best one yet. Thanks so much for stopping by & sharing.

As a child, the Christmas gift I wanted most were new clothes. My jeans were always too short (high water), my shoes were too tight, and my shirts were grungy with holes. I remember wanting a beautiful red and black sparkly dress for Christmas one year, but there was no way we could afford it so I didn’t bother asking. Although the gift I treasure most was the handmade hope chest that my parents gave me – I still own and cherish it today. I remember saving my paper route and babysitting money to purchase dishes and other household items hoping to fill it up before I got married.
What a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing. Sometimes the greatest gifts are the ones that come from the heart (like your handmade hope chest). I think you would enjoy Lionel’s Christmas Adventure; it reflects some of the same concepts you just shared. Thanks so much for stopping by & sharing.

I really wanted the Barbie Dreamboat when I was about 6. I was disappointed when it didn’t arrive at Christmas, though 3 weeks later at my birthday there it was!
That’s quite a roller coaster! I’m glad you did get it. Thanks for stopping by & sharing.

What did I always want for Christmas? Oh my, that was a lifetime ago. But I think I always got what I asked for. I started my hope chest when I was 9 and I always wanted things to add to it.
I’m glad you got your hope chest, and I hope it came in handy filled with great things. Thanks so much for stopping by & sharing.
