About the Author: Angela Muse

Angela MuseAngela was born in California to a military family. This meant that she got used to being the “new kid” in school every couple of years. It was hard trying to make new friends, but Angela discovered she had a knack for writing. In high school Angela began writing poetry and song lyrics. Expressing herself through writing seemed very natural. After becoming a Mom in 2003, Angela continued her storytelling to her own children. In 2009 she wrote and published her first rhyming children’s book aimed at toddlers. Since then she has released several more children’s picture books and released her first young adult romance series, The Alpha Girls, in 2012. Angela’s husband, Ben Muse writes suspense/thriller books that can also be found on Amazon. Check out what else she’s working on by visiting www.4eyesbooks.com

Book Review

I read this picture book to my 2 year old on my Kindle Paperwhite. Even without color he sat for the whole thing, which is really saying something for that crazy kid. The pictures were adorable and he loved seeing all the little shoes on the caterpillar. Shoes is one of the few words he knows and says regularly so this “shoe book” was great for him. It did only show one page at a time, meaning I had to read the word page then swipe to the picture. I was worried that he would lose interest on the word pages, but he didn’t. I think we can file it as a success for 2-year-olds.

I thought the story was very cute. I loved the different shoes. And I loved the idea of putting shoes on a caterpillar that has so many feet. Unfortunately this book lost a star because I was not impressed with the rhyming. The rhythm was not clear, and it changed constantly. Also, many of the rhymes were a HUGE stretch of the imagination. I am a musician and so rhyming and rhythm problems bother me a lot. I still thought it was a cute story, though. Like I said earlier, my 2-year-old loved it. And for slightly older children there were some really cute caterpillar facts at the end. I liked that those were included. And the book was just so cute, I couldn’t drop it down more than one star for the rhyming issues.
